The Four Sentences of Hengqu and the Knowledge Production of the Modern Chinese Civilization
Zhang Zai proposed the idea of setting spiritual values for the world in general,establishing meaning of life for men at large,perpetuating wisdom of ancient sages,building foundation of lasting peace for future.These four sentences are the em-bodiment of the ideals of China's humanities.The construction of an independent knowledge base for the modern Chinese civiliza-tion should be founded on the traditional ideals of China's humanities,develop the reasonable elements of the moral personality of China's traditional culture,and strengthen the people's belief in the core socialist values with Chinese characteristics.The con-struction of the modern Chinese civilization should uphold the root consciousness of perpetuating wisdom of ancient sages and the global consciousness of building foundation of lasting peace for future,popularize China's fine traditional culture,and contribute China's wisdom for solving the common threats facing mankind at the present time.
