The Impact and Spatial Spillover Effects of the Digital Economy on New Quality Productivity
As a new economic paradigm, the digital economy is an important engine for the development of new quality produc-tivity.This paper utilizes the entropy method to measure the comprehensive level of new quality productivity in 30 provinces(re-gions,cities)in China from 2012 to 2022.On the basis of overcoming endogeneity issues,it empirically examines the effects and mechanisms of the digital economy in empowering new quality productivity through multiple dimensions. The results indicate that the digital economy can positively influence new quality productivity through upgrading industrial structures, and the impact of the digital economy on new quality productivity is more pronounced in China's eastern regions, high new quality productivity areas, and after the year 2015.The digital economy not only enhances the new quality productivity in the local regions but also exhibits significant spatial spillover effects, which contribute to the improvement of new quality productivity in neighboring areas.Through empirical analysis, this paper reveals the efficacy and influence mechanisms of the digital economy on new quality pro-ductivity,providing policy insights for exploring pathways to enhance new quality productivity.
