On the Movement of Joining the Army and Cadre in Hunanin the Early Period after the Founding of the PRC
In the early days after the founding of the People's Republic of China,in order to support the War to Resist the US Ag-gression and Aid Kereo and to promote the modernization of our national defense forces,Hunan Province actively carried out the move-ment of joining the army and cadre under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the Party Central and Southern Bureau.Due to the long-term rule of the Kuomintang in Hunan,at first,some young students and workers had misconceptions about the movement.On that account,Hunan province carried out educational propaganda of politics of current affairs.After extensive and deep-going mobi-lization,young students,workers,and even reformed bandits enthusiastically signed up to join the army and cadre.The whole province not only completed the tasks designated by the higher authorities,but also exceeded the targets.The movement of recruiting soldiers and cadres in Hunan,as an important part of the early national defense construction and campaign to resist U.S.aggression and aid Korea in the early days after the founding of the People's Republic of China,provided the support of troop sources and talents for the War to Resist the US Aggression and Aid Kereo and the national defense and meanwhile it reserved a large number of cadres for the moderniza-tion of the army,propelled the modernization construction of the national defense and the military of the new China,and aroused the patriotic enthusiasm in the young people on a grand scale.
