Housing Purchase Difficulties for Homeless Migrant Populations from the Perspective of Spatial Differences
The existence of housing-purchase difficulty poses a significant barrier to urban settlement for a grand homeless migrant population.Based on data from the National Dynamic Monitoring Survey of Floating Population, this study investigates the spatial pat-tern and influencing factors of housing purchase difficulties among homeless migrant populations. It is found that migrants without hous-ing-purchase difficulty were mainly concentrated in the Liaodong peninsula,Shandong peninsula,Guangdong and Guangxi, while mi-grants with housing-purchase difficulty were mainly concentrated in Shaanxi,Gansu,Ningxia,Inner Mongolia and Hubei.Higher levels of urban public services exacerbate housing purchase difficulties for migrant populations, while more advanced economic condi-tions alleviate these difficulties.Increased burdens of house purchasing and renting make it more difficult for migrant populations to af-ford homes.More likely to face housing purchase difficulties are migrant populations with agricultural household registration, those from within the province with a long-term residence intention and unstable employment status, those without social security, those renting private or public rental housing, and middle-aged married migrants with multiple children moving with their entire families. The impact of these factors varies across cities due to differences in housing costs. For example,in cities with higher housing prices, higher educa-tion levels and having social security do not mitigate the housing purchase difficulties of homeless migrant populations. The findings pro-vide implications for advancing the construction of allocation-type government-subsidized housing and stimulating housing market de-mand.
