The cyber youth subculture constitutes a cultural education environment in the form of a recessive carrier,and the commu-nicative discourse it establishes among young people not only permeates the entire virtual network but also spreads into real life,becom-ing the latest manifestation of the development of youth subculture in the new media era.The cyber youth subculture is a collection of values and behavioral patterns that differ from the mainstream culture.It influences young people significantly from both ideological and practical perspectives.Exploring the mechanism of how the cyber youth subculture impacts ideological and political education in higher education institutions and bridging the gap between them poses a significant challenge to the field of education.Therefore,to achieve an effective spatial"dialogue"between cyber youth subculture and ideological and political education in higher education institutions,it is necessary to start from the essence of the phenomenon of the cyber youth subculture.Based on its intrinsic characteristics of the cyber youth subculture,a comprehensive system of ideological and political education work in higher education institutions should be con-structed from different dimensions such as discourse,content,function and technology.This will gradually enhance the guiding influ-ence of ideological and political education in higher education institutions amidst the shifts in the cyber youth subculture,ensuring that the cyber youth subculture achieves a rational return under the guidance of mainstream culture.
