The brilliant Chinese civilization of five thousand years originated from the joint creation of multiple ethnic groups.It is a true portrayal of the integration of interethnic politics in border areas,the consolidation of the development of the Chinese nation,and the formation of a sense of community among the Chinese ethnic peoples.The southwest Tusi system lasted for nearly a thousand years.The rise and fall of the Na clan Tusi(native chieftains)in Yunnan is a microcosm of the changes in the Tusi system.Its relationship with the Central Plains dynasties,the sources of its power legitimacy,the drive of economic and cultural development,and the contra-dictions in human land relations,all these are excellent reference materials for understanding the border governance of the Central Plains dynasties in history,especially the governance of the southwestern border areas.To summarize and analyze the basic logic and driving factors of inter-ethnic political integration in border regions and to explore its historical inevitability hold significant practical value for strengthening the consciousness of the Chinese nation as a community,promoting ethnic unity,and achieving exchanges and interactions among all ethnic groups.
