As an identifying political concept in China,"self-revolution"originates from the critical and revolutionary nature of Marx-ist theory as well as the spirit of discarding the old and bringing forth the new,the self-cultivation culture of self-discipline and self-reflection,and the sense of vigilance in times of peace found in the excellent traditional Chinese culture.The evolution of this concept has gone through several stages:its sprouting during the period of the New Democratic Revolution,its introduction during the period of socialist revolution and construction,its development during the new era of reform,opening up and socialist modernization,and its final shaping in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Since the entry into the new era,the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has innovated the discourse on the Party's self-revolution,clarifying its core discourse with"four selfs",interpreting its value discourse with"original aspiration and mission",explaining its goal discourse with"long-term govern-ance",expounding its institutional discourse with"the Party governance in accordance with regulations".Thus,it has constructed the discourse system of the Party's self-revolution in the new era.
