Analysis of radar seeker sea-surface echoes at a high grazing angle
The sea clutter intensity observed by the sea radar seeker at a high grazing angle increases sharply where ship-detection performance can be a problem. The analysis in this paper describes the amplitude and phase characteristics of radar echoes based on measured data collected by airborne radar seekers.Firstly, the data are fitted to commonly used probability distribution functions respectively, and then the goodness of fit is used to obtain the optimal distribution model. Finally, the average phase difference is analyzed. The results show that the K distribution is a good fit for sea-clutter data at a high grazing angle, the K distribution is a good fit for the co-polarization ship echoes plus sea clutter data, the Log-normal distribution is a good fit for the cross-polarization ship echoes plus sea clutter data, the signal-to-clutter ratio for the cross-polarization is higher than the co-polarization,the average phase difference of ship echoes plus sea clutter is smaller than sea clutter.
