Analysis of the Effect of Simultaneous Treatment of Hydrocephalus by Ventriculo-ventral Shunt Combined with Cranial Repair Surgery
Objective To carry out Ventriculo-ventral shunt and cranial repair during the same period in the treat-ment of patients with hydrocephalus and to analyze their effects. Methods Sixty patients who underwent relevant surgi-cal treatments for hydrocephalus in Yancheng Third People's Hospital between September 2016 and August 2023 were collected as study subjects.Using the randomized systematic sampling method, the patients were divided into two groups, with 30 cases in the control group undergoing Ventriculo-ventral shunt surgery first and cranial repair surgery later, while 30 cases in the observation group underwent the above two surgeries at the same time. The clinical treat-ment effects were compared and analyzed. Results The score of Barthel Index, motor function, cognitive function, score of Glasgow Outcome Scale and Carpenter's functional status score of the patients in the observation group were better than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was as high as 96.67%,which was significantly higher compared with 73.33%in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(x2=6.405,P=0.011).The complication rate of the observa-tion group was significantly better compared with the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Ventriculo-ventral shunt and cranial repair are therapeutically significant when used concurrently in the management of patients with hydrocephalus.
