Effects of Dexmedetomidine Combined with Midazolam on Sedation and Sleep Quality in Elderly Patients under Intraspinal Anesthesia
Objective To analyze the effect of dexmedetomidine combined with midazolam on intraoperative sedation and postoperative sleep quality in elderly patients undergoing intraspinal anesthesia. Methods A total of 168 patients who went to the Department of Anesthesiology at East Hospital of Shouguang People's Hospital for intravertebral an-esthesia operation from January 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the study objects, and were divided into con-trol group(n=84)and study group(n=84)using random number table method. After the intravertebral anesthesia level was stabilized, the control group was given midazolam maintenance, and the study group was given dexmedetomidine combined midazolam maintenance. The differences of vital signs, stress, sleep quality and complication rate were com-pared between two groups. Results The vital signs and stress indexes of the study group patients were better than those of the control group, and the postoperative sleep quality was higher than that of the control group, and the differ-ences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The total incidence of postoperative complications such as bradycar-dia,thrombosis,hypotension,respiratory depression and venous thrombosis of the study group was 4.76%,which was significantly lower than 14.29%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.421,P<0.05).Conclusion Dexmedetomidine combined with midazolam has a prominent effect on intraoperative sedation in el-derly patients under intraspinal anesthesia, and can improve the sleep quality on the day after surgery.
