The Application Value of Targeted Next-generation Sequencing in the Pathogen Detection of Lower Respiratory Tract Infection
Objective To explore the advantages of targeted next-generation sequencing in detecting pathogens in lower respiratory tract infections and its guiding therapeutic effect. Methods A total of 295 suspected patients with lower respiratory tract infections admitted to Wuzhou People's Hospital in Guangxi from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study objects. All patients underwent sputum or alveolar lavage fluid tNGS and traditional pathogen testing(CMTs).CMTs was used as the gold standard to analyze the sensitivity, accuracy, specificity, positive predictive value, and consistency of tNGS.Results The detection of 295 suspected patients with lower respiratory tract infections showed that the positive detection of tNGS was 290 cases. The positive detection results of CMTs were 289 cases. The sensitivity of tNGS was 99.31%,the accuracy of tNGS was 98.98%,the specificity is 80.00%,and the posi-tive predictive value of tNGS was 99.65%.The kappa value was 0.722,indicating high consistency between the two de-tection methods. Conclusion tNGS technology has high diagnostic value in patients with suspected lower respiratory tract infections.
