Analysis of the Value of Combined Detection of Serum Procalcitonin and C-reactive Protein in the Diagnosis of Pneumonia
Objective To analyze the value of combined detection of serum procalcitonin and C-reactive protein in the diagnosis of pneumonia. Methods 100 children with pneumonia who were admitted to Dong'e County Gaoji Cen-tral Health Center from October 2022 to October 2023 were selected as the observation group. And 84 healthy examin-ees during the same period were selected as the control group. The serum procalcitonin(PCT)and C-reactive protein(CRP)levels of the two groups of children were compared, and the diagnostic efficacy of serum PCT and CRP alone and combined detection was compared. Results The levels of PCT(2.36±0.08)ng/mL and CRP(16.41±6.82)mg/L in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(0.02±0.01)ng/mL,(1.10±0.30)mg/L,and the differences were statistically significant(t=266.225,20.549,both P<0.05).There was no statistically significant differ-ence in sensitivity, accuracy and specificity between serum PCT level and CRP level(all P>0.05).However,the sensi-tivity,specificity and accuracy of combined detection were higher than those of single detection, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion The combined detection of serum PCT and CRP levels is of high diagnostic value for pneumonia.
