Efficacy and Safety Value of Combined Chemoradiotherapy and Radio-therapy Alone in Elderly Patients with Esophageal Cancer
Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of combined chemoradiotherapy and radiotherapy alone in elderly patients with esophageal cancer. Methods Sixty elderly patients with esophageal cancer treated in Nanjing Ji-angning Hospital from January 2020 to June 2023 were selected and divided into control group(30 cases)and study group(30 cases)by random number table method, and were treated with radiotherapy alone and radiotherapy com-bined with chemoradiotherapy, respectively. The therapeutic effect, tumor markers, safety and prognosis of the two groups were compared. Results The effective rate of the study group was 93.33%,which was higher than that of the control group(70.00%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=5.455,P<0.05).The reduction of tumor markers in the study group was better than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The prognosis of the study group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statisti-cally significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in safety between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of elderly esophageal cancer, compared with radiotherapy alone, combination of radio-therapy and chemotherapy can not only improve the therapeutic effect, promote the reduction of tumor marker levels, but also help to improve the prognosis without increasing adverse reactions.
