Clinical Value of High-dose Intravenous Immunoglobulin in the Treat-ment of Pediatric Severe Viral Encephalitis
Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin on pediatric severe viral encephalitis. Methods Fifty-four cases of children with severe viral encephalitis admitted to Yongzhou Central Hospital from January 2019 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects, and were divided into two groups of 27 cases each by odd-even number. The control group and the observation group were treated with small-dose and high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin, respectively, compared the therapeutic effects. Results In the observation group, the disappearance time of high fever, headache, vomiting, convulsions, coma and hospitalization were shorter than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The time for the EEG to return to normal(7.53±1.49)d and the time for the cerebrospinal fluid to return to normal(8.13±1.66)d of the chil-dren in the observation group were shorter than those of the control group(9.68±1.76)d and(11.29±1.80)d,and the differences were statistically significant(t=4.845,6.706,both P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion High-dose intravenous immuno-globulin can make the clinical symptoms of children with severe viral encephalitis improve significantly and protect the neurological function of the children, which is safe and effective.
