Effect of Metronidazole Combined with Clindamycin on the Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis and the Level of Inflammatory Indexes
Objective To study the effect of metronidazole combined with clindamycin on the treatment of chronic periodontitis and the level of inflammatory indexes. Methods A total of eighty patients with chronic periodontitis treated in Jinan Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine from August 2021 to August 2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into two groups with forty cases each by random number table method. The control group was treated with metronidazole monotherapy, and the observation group was treated with metronidazole+clinda-mycin.The therapeutic effect, gingival crevicular fluid inflammatory indexes and periodontal health status of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the observation group(95.00%)was higher than that of the control group(80.00%),the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.114,P=0.042).After treatment, the detection values of gingival crevicular fluid inflammation indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the measured values of periodon-tal health related indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Metronidazole combined with clindamycin can improve the therapeu-tic effect of chronic periodontitis patients, reduce local inflammatory response more effectively, and improve periodon-tal health.
