Application of Minocycline Ointment and Root Canal Therapy in the Treatment of Combined Periodontal and Pulp Lesions
Objective To analyze the effect of root canal therapy combined with minocycline ointment in the treatment of combined periodontal and pulp lesions. Methods The clinical data of 76 patients with combined periodontal and pulp lesions received treatment in Chifeng Hospital from October 2021 to October 2022 were retrospectively selected. The patients were divided into study group and observation group by different treatment methods with thirty-eight cases in each group. The observation group was treated with root canal therapy alone, and the study group was treated with minocycline combined with the observation group. The therapeutic effects, gingival relevant indicators of patients in the two groups were compared. Results The effective rate of the two groups was 94.74%in the study group, higher than 78.95%in the observation group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.145,P<0.05).The gingival index(0.80±0.11)points,gingival bleeding index(1.43±0.13)points and plaque index(0.68±0.13)points of the study group were lower than those of the observation group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of patients with combined periodontal and pulp lesions, the combination of minocycline ointment and root canal therapy is beneficial to improve the periodontal status of patients and improve the therapeutic effect.
