Comparative Analysis of the Efficacy of PVP and PKP in the Treatment of Osteoporotic Thoracolumbar Compression Fractures Involving the Upper 1/3 of the Vertebral Body
Objective To compare the efficacy of the application of percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP)and percutane-ous kyphoplasty(PKP)in the treatment of patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fracture(involving the upper 1/3 of the vertebral body). Methods 156 patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fracture(involv-ing the upper 1/3 of the vertebral body)admitted to Liupanshui Zhongshan District People's Hospital from January 2019 to December 2023 were selected for the study by a purposive sampling method.According to different treatment, they were divided into control group and observation group,78 cases in each group.Patients in the control group were treated with PVP,and patients in the observation group were treated with PKP,and the treatment effects of the two groups were compared. Results The operation time of patients in the control group was shorter than that of the observa-tion group, and the amount of intraoperative bleeding was significantly less than that of the observation group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).At 1 d postoperatively, the sagittal retroconvex Cobb angle of both groups was smaller than that before surgery, but the difference was not statistically significant when compared be-tween the two groups(P>0.05).At 1 d postoperatively, the percentage of height of the anterior margin of the injured vertebrae was greater than that of the preoperative period in both groups, and the observation group was greater than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(all P<0.05).The rate of cement leakage in the observation group(14.10%)was significantly lower than that in the control group(30.77%),and the difference was sta-tistically significant(χ2=6.225,P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression frac-ture(involving the upper 1/3 of the vertebral body),both PKP and PVP are good efficacy, and the advantage of PVP is the short operation time and less bleeding, and the advantage of PKP is the low rate of bone cement leakage.
