The Diagnostic Value of PCT,CRP and WBC Levels in Respiratory Infec-tions in Children
Objective To explore the diagnostic value of procalcitonin(PCT),C-reactive Protein(CRP)and white blood cell count(WBC)in children with respiratory infections. Methods 328 children with respiratory infection admit-ted to Hongze District People's Hospital of Huai'an City,Jiangsu Province from June 2022 to June 2023 were non-randomly selected as the study group, and 328 healthy subjects were selected as the control group. The levels of serum PCT,CRP and WBC were compared between the two groups, and the diagnostic efficacy of the three indexes was com-pared.Results The levels of PCT,CRP and WBC in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).PCT positive 274 cases,CRP positive 241 cases,WBC posi-tive 239 cases. The sensitivity of serum PCT,CRP and WBC were 83.54%(274/328),73.48%(241/328)and 72.87%(239/328),the specificity was 81.10%(266/328),74.70%(245/328)and 74.09%(243/328),and the accuracy was 82.32%(540/656),74.09%(486/656)and 73.48%(482/656),respectively.The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of serum PCT were higher than those of CRP and WBC,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with CRP and WBC,PCT has higher sensitivity, specificity and accuracy in the diagnosis of re-spiratory infections in children.
