ER:YAG Laser Combined with Endoscopic Subgingival Scaling in the Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Er:YAG laser combined with endoscopic subgingival curet-tage in the treatment of chronic periodontitis. Methods 66 patients with chronic periodontitis admitted to Xinyi City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to December 2023 were selected non-randomly and grouped according to whether or not the surgery was implemented in combination with laser treatment and were di-vided into two groups,33 patients underwent endoscopic subgingival curettage as the curettage group, and 33 patients were combined with Er:YAG laser treatment on the basis of curettage as the laser group. The two groups were com-pared in terms of treatment effect, periodontal manifestations, and bleeding. Results The total effective rate of treat-ment in the laser group was 96.97%(32/33),which was higher than the effective rate of 75.76%(25/33)in the scrap-ing group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.632,P<0.05).The bleeding rate of the laser group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The probing depth and at-tachment loss of the laser group were lower than those of the scraping group, and the differences were statistically sig-nificant(both P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the comparison of plague index between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Er:YAG laser combined with endoscopic subgingival curettage reduces probing depth and attachment loss in patients with chronic periodontitis and decreases the likelihood of bleeding on probing.
