The Efficacy of Levofloxacin Combined with Cefozoxime in the Treatment of Pneumonia in the Elderly and the Effects on Patients Lung Function
Objective To investigate the efficacy of levofloxacin combined with cefazoxime in the treatment of pneu-monia in the elderly.Methods Sixty-eight cases of elderly patients with pneumonia admitted to Lianshui County Hos-pital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2022 to August 2023 were non-randomly selected as study subjects and grouped according to different treatment methods.The control group(n=34)was treated with cefozoxime,and the observation group(n=34)was treated with cefozoxime combined with levofloxacin.The efficacy,symptom improve-ment,lung function and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results The total effec-tive rate of the observation group was 97.06% (33/34),which was higher than 79.41% (27/34)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=5.100,P<0.05).The observation group's symptom improvement time was shorter than that of the control group,and the level of lung function indexes were better than that of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The efficacy of levofloxacin combined with cefozoxime in the treatment of pneumonia in the elderly is remarkable,improving patients'symptoms and lung function with few adverse effects.
