Analysis of the Effect of Nutritional Support Combined with Recombinant Human Growth Hormone on the Growth Index of Children with Idio-pathic Short Stature
Objective To analyze the effect of nutritional support combined with recombinant human growth hormone on the growth index of children with idiopathic short stature during treatment. Methods The clinical data of one hun-dred children with idiopathic short stature in Department of Pediatrics,Xixian People's Hospital of Xinyang City,Henan Province from February 2020 to February 2023 were retrospectively selected and divided into two groups ac-cording to different treatment methods, with fifty cases in each group. The children treated with nutritional support combined with recombinant human growth hormone were in the combined treatment group, and the children treated with recombinant human growth hormone alone were in the single treatment group. The growth and development in-dexes,bone metabolism indexes and complications were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the body weight, height, height standard deviation, bone age and growth rate of the children in the combined treatment group were higher than those in the single treatment group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of hunger hormone and fasting blood glucose in the combined treatment group were(4.13±0.56)ng/mL and(4.06±0.57)mmol/L,respectively,which were lower than those in the single treatment group(4.97±0.53)ng/mL and(4.45±0.50)mmol/L,the differences were statistically significant(t=7.704,3.637,both P<0.05).The levels of osteocalcin, bone alkaline phosphatase, type I procollagen amino terminal propeptide,insulin-like growth factor-1 and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 were higher than those in the single treatment group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The total thyroxine was lower than that in the single treat-ment group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically ignificant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of nutritional support and recombinant human growth hormone in the treatment of idiopathic short stature can improve the growth index of children more than recombinant human growth hormone alone.
