Impact Analysis of Postoperative Effects and Complications of Unilateral and Bilateral Percutaneous Kyphoplasty in Elderly Patients with Thoraco-lumbar Osteoporotic Compression Fractures
Objective To analyze the effect of unilateral and bilateral percutaneous kyphoplasty on postoperative com-plications in elderly patients with thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Methods From April 2021 to April 2023,seventy-eight elderly patients with thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures ad-mitted to the Department of Spinal Surgery,Qiannan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Guizhou Province were non-randomly selected as the research objects.According to the different surgical treatment methods, they were di-vided into bilateral puncture percutaneous kyphoplasty treatment group(control group)and unilateral puncture percu-taneous kyphoplasty treatment group(observation group),thirty-nine cases in each group. The basic conditions of sur-gery,the incidence of postoperative complications, the oswestry disability index, and the levels of imaging indicators before and six months after surgery were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time, the number of intraoperative fluoroscopy, the amount of intraoperative blood loss and the amount of bone cement injection in the ob-servation group were significantly better than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the observa-tion group and the control group[2.56%(1/39)vs 5.13%(2/39)](χ2=0.347,all P>0.05).There was no significant dif-ference in the level of imaging indexes between the observation group and the control group before and 6 months after surgery(all P>0.05).The dysfunction index scores of the two groups at 6 months after operation were lower than those before operation, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Unilateral puncture percu-taneous kyphoplasty for the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral compression fractures in the elderly can achieve the effect of reconstructing spinal stability, and the unilateral puncture operation time is short, and the trauma caused by the patient is small.
