Effect of Atorvastatin Combined with Dexamethasone on Neurological Function and Haematoma Recurrence Rate after Drilling and Drainage in Elderly CSDH Patients
Objective To analyse the clinical value of atorvastatin combined with dexamethasone treatment in patients with chronic subdural haematoma after drilling and drainage, and its effect on patients'neurological function and hae-matoma recurrence. Methods Fifty patients with chronic subdural hematoma admitted to Tongzhou District People's Hospital in Nantong City from January 2021 to June 2023 were non-randomly selected as the research objects. All pa-tients were treated with drilling and drainage surgery.According to different postoperative treatment methods, they were divided into two groups, with twenty-five cases in each group. The control group received atorvastatin treatment, while the observation group received dexamethasone. The neurological function, hematoma recurrence rate, total effec-tive rate, and postoperative residual hematoma volume were compared between the two groups. Results There was no recurrence of hematoma in the observation group, and the recurrence rate of hematoma in the control group was 24.00% (6/25),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.735,P<0.05).After treatment, the Glasgow Coma Scale in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the neurological deficit related scores were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The re-sidual hematoma volume in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at 2 weeks and 1 month af-ter surgery, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion After drilling drainage surgery, the combination of dexamethasone and atorvastatin can improve the overall treatment efficacy of patients, improve postoperative neurological function recovery, reduce residual hematoma volume, and lower the risk of hematoma recurrence.
