Exploring the Clinical Value of Combined Detection of Serum Procalcito-nin,Interleukin 6,and Endotoxin in the Diagnosis of Elderly Respiratory Bacterial Infections
Objective To analyze the diagnostic value of using combined procalcitonin(PCT),interleukin 6(IL-6),and endotoxin tests for the diagnosis of respiratory bacterial infections in the elderly. Methods Eighty cases of elderly patients with respiratory tract infections admitted to Shenxian People's Hospital from February 2022 to February 2023 and twenty healthy medical examiners were selected non-randomly as the study subjects. The healthy medical check-ups were the control group, and the elderly patients with respiratory tract infections were divided into study group 1 and study group 2 according to whether they were infected with bacteria or not, with forty cases in each group.PCT,IL-6,and endotoxin levels were compared, and the diagnostic efficacy of the indicators alone and in combination was compared. Results There were statistically significant differences in the comparison of PCT,IL-6,and endotoxin among the 3 groups(all P<0.05).The sensitivity of the combined test was 100.00%(40/40),the accuracy was 97.00%(97/100),and the negative predictive value was 100.00%(57/57),which were higher than those of the separate test, and the differences were statistically significant(χ2=7.364,3.954,4.694,all P<0.05).Conclusion The diagnostic effi-cacy of the combination of PCT,IL-6,and endotoxin for the diagnosis of respiratory bacterial infections in the elderly is high.
