Seeking Knowledge from Facts:The Production Logic of Chinese Autonomous Knowledge——Based on an Analysis of Fei Hsiao-Tung’s Writings
"Seeking knowledge from facts"is not only the academic principle that Fei Hsiao-tung adhered to throughout his life,but also the production logic of Chinese independent knowledge.It has the following three aspects.From the epistemology perspective,"knowledge"is not only the selective reflection of social life"facts",but also has a constructive effect on the latter.From the ontology perspective,social life"facts"is not only an organic whole expanding horizontally in space,but also a vertical structure extending longitudinally in time.From the methodology perspective,"seek"is not only the process of achieving equality,mutual benefit,and fusion of perspectives between research subjects and research objects,but also means to promote positive interaction between"facts"and"knowledge".The above three aspects of"seeking knowledge from facts"are the creative integration of Western modern academia and Chinese cultural traditions,which provide the production of Chinese independent knowledge with ideological guidance and practical paths.
