Bringing the Traditions Back in Constructing the Discipline of Public Administration in China:A Possible Path
Traditions make sense.As a possible path to construct the discipline of public administration in China,"bringing the traditions back in"advocates continuing to attach importance to both the wisdom of traditional governance and the academic tradition of"valuing traditions"reflected in the teaching and research ideas of senior scholars,which can be due to the"gaps",that is,the current discipline of public administration in China lacks attention to the above traditions,and it has become a must to make up such gaps.To bring the traditions back in,at the operational level,it is necessary to rediscover the mainstreams,to revisit the historical scenes,to rebuild the curriculum,and to redevelop the teachers;at the organizational level,it is important to pay attention to the organizational conditions set by how universities being working and connecting with other organizations;and at the conceptual level,such a path has already been supported by the conditions of national consciousness,cultural consciousness,and disciplinary consciousness.
