The Predicament of the Silver-Haired:An Analysis of Relationship Between Family Labor and Social Participation of the Young Old in a City
It is of great importance to focus on aging practice of the young old.The public property of the young old manifests in family labor and social participation,which can not be interpreted by activity theory or separation theory alone.The attitude of young elderly to family labor mixes understanding and reluctance together.The social participation of young elderly is characterized by familiar ties and"short,close,alike".The way by which family labor affects social participation is deprivation of time,and young elderly balance conflict between family labor and social participation by concurrence,option and contradiction.What's more,social participation keeps family labor continuing through physical exercise and a change of mood.This article suggests that mobilizing public resource to ease their care burden and promote social involvement for the young old.
