Breast cancer has become a major cancer threatening women's health worldwide, and the study of health communication content related to breast cancer is of great significance to the physical and mental well-being of patients.Using the illness narrative of breast cancer patients on Xiaohongshu as the primary material, this study presents the features of illness narrative types on social media platforms from a narratological perspective.Breast cancer narratives on Xiaohongshu are mainly heroic narratives, detective narratives and quest narratives.Heroic narratives portray the patients as fighters bravely battling the disease in an explicit or implicit manner;detective narratives depict the process of patients exploring the mystery of the illness and treatment strategies while communicating with each other to seek help;and quest narratives present linear statements about the patients'experience of self-reconstruction.
