Alison Bechdel's Fun Home:A Family Tragicomic,a representative graphic memoir,vividly portrays the author's exploration and experiences concerning family relationships,sexual orientation,and personal identity.The protagonist Alison Bechdel's journey of growth,the lives of her parents,and the family's interactions with literature all highlight the unique value of literary works as spiritual guides.Thus,by analyzing the fractured mental states of Alison and her parents from the perspective of bibliotherapy,this paper aims to explore the therapeutic functions of literature in shaping characters,releasing emotions,inspiring cognition and fostering self-identity etc.,which tend to prompt further scholarly attention and exploration of the therapeutic functions of reading within literary works.
