Based on the data obtained from a stratified proportional sampling survey of 31 provinces and cities across China(N=4857),this study analyzed the influence pathways and boundary conditions of social capital on social media addiction.The study found that:(1)There is a significant positive correlation between social capital and social media addiction;(2)Quality of life mediates the relationship between bonding social capital and social media addiction;(3)Perception of class relations mediates the relationship between bridging social capital and social media addiction;(4)Digital immigrants'social media addiction is more affected by bonding social capital,while digital natives'social media addiction is more affected by bridging social capital.The research revealed the pathways through which different types of social capital play a role in social media addiction,as well as the digital generational differences involved.The study provided guidance for understanding and intervening of social media addiction.
