Application of Cellulose-based Composite Catalysts for Degradation of Pollutants in Wastewater
This paper reviews the progress of the application of various types of cellulose-based composite catalysts in the field of degradation and treatment of pollutants in wastewater, focusing on natural plant fiber-based composite catalysts, bacterial cellulose-based composite catalysts, cellulose nanofiber-based composite catalysts, and cellulose-derived material composite catalysts. The advantages and disadvantages of their use as substrate materials are summarized. The preparation process, catalytic performance, and mechanism of action are briefly analyzed. It is pointed out that cellulose and its derivatives,as the substrate materials of composite catalysts, not only have the dispersing and immobilizing effects, but also can adsorb the organic pollutants in the water and increased exposure of catalysts to contaminants. Finally, the current research progress on cellulose-based composite catalysts is summarized and the future development direction is envisioned, which provides ideas and references for the in-depth research of cellulose-based composite catalysts in the field of degradation.
