The classification and preparation methods of cellulose derivatives are discussed, which significantly expand the application range of cellulose through chemical modification, with a focus on the physical and chemical modification techniques of cellulose. The application of cellulose in pressure sensors, strain sensors, humidity sensors, triboelectric sensing is discussed in detail. The hydrophilic nature and biocompatibility of cellulose make it an ideal material for manufacturing high-performance,low-cost,biodegradable sensors. Some of the research examples mentioned in the article demonstrate the potential of cellulose-based sensors for detecting changes in ambient humidity, energy harvesting, and human health.
