This article analyzes the motivation of social media use by"Chinese visiting scholars"during their visiting period,and explores its impact on scholars"bilateral"cultural identity between home and host countries.It finds that the motivation mainly includes interpersonal communication and information exchange,and their cultural identity in the home country is generally higher than that in the host country,both motivations have a positive impact on the two types of cultural identity of the subjects.
