Exploration of"Mouthpiece Theory":A Reconsideration of Guo Chaoren's Thoughts on Journalism
As the first generation of renowned journalists trained after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949,Guo Chaoren's discourse on journalism has always been closely related to the development and construction of socialism in China.During his 44-year-career as a journalist,Guo has written many remarkable works and explored a series of news theories applicable to socialist China.Based on the text analysis on his monograph entitled"Mouthpiece Theory",this article summarizes the core ideas of Guo's discourse on journalism from four dimensions:the nature and function of the news industry,news gathering and editing,media management,and news education.
