"Hua'er"and the CPC:The Centennial History of the Party in Northwest Folk Songs
"Hua'er"is a kind of folk song popular in Gansu,Qinghai,and Ningxia provinces in northwestern China,created and shared by Han Chinese and other ethnic minorities.This paper selected and analyzed 649 Hua'er songs created after the founding of the Communist Party of China and found that the narrative discourse of"Hua'er"changes with the times and is closely related to social issues;The lyrics mainly sing in praises of the CPC through symbols,leaders'inspiration,and calls for labour.It argues that these"Hua'er songs"appropriately reflect the image of the CPC and the social landscape in different historical stages,and provide an entry point for us to understand the connection between the traditional culture and the CPC.
