Application of Hand-Held Echocardiography in Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases
Compared with standard transthoracic echocardiography equipment,hand-held echocardiography(HHE)has stronger portability and mobility, and is more cost-effective.With technological advancements,HHE now has M-mode,2D grayscale, and color Doppler ultrasound imaging capabilities, allowing for real-time evaluation of cardiac structure and function. It has high accuracy in assessing cardiac chamber size, left ventricular global or regional systolic function, pericardial effusion, qualitative assessment of valve stenosis and regurgitation. In recent years, several studies have explored the value of HHE in assisting disease diagnosis and guiding clinical decisions in different clinical settings. This article reviews the application progress of HHE in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including its value in assisting diagnosis, guiding treatment, evaluating efficacy, and predicting prognosis in different clinical settings such as pre-hospital emergency care, emergency and critical care unit, cardiovascular specialist outpatient department, ward and interventional operating room, and explores the feasibility and accuracy of using HHE in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases by non-ultrasound specialists.
