Lipid-Lowering Drugs and Cognitive Function Decline
The cardiovascular benefits of lipid-lowering therapy have been confirmed by a large number of experiments, but whether the decrease of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol will lead to the decline of cognitive function is also gradually causing concern. As new cholesterol-lowering drugs continue to hit the market, the limit that low-density lipoprotein cholesterol can reach is getting lower and lower. This article reviews the current research status on the effects of lipid-lowering drugs such as statins, cholesterol absorption inhibitors, and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 inhibitors on cognitive function.
