Concomitant Aortic Stenosis and Cardiac Amyloidosis
The prevalence of the coexistence of aortic stenosis(AS)and cardiac amyloidosis(CA)is not uncommon in elderly. The diagnosis of AS-CA is challenging due to the similar clinical, imaging, and laboratory features between the two diseases. However, patients with AS-CA have a worse prognosis than patients with AS alone, and delayed diagnosis increases the risk of death. With the development of imaging techniques,The multimodal and multiparameter comprehensive assessment is conducive to a diagnosis of early AS-CA at present,as to formulate personalized treatment and improve patient outcomes. This article reviews the recent progress in the epidemiology, pathophysiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of AS-CA.
