Metabolic syndrome refers to a clinical syndrome in which various risk factors for cardiovascular diseases such as obesity,hypertension,hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia coexist in an individual.In recent years,the theory of chronic subclinical inflammation has attracted much attention,and low-level inflammation is also a key factor leading to metabolic syndrome.Cytokines produced by white blood cells or immune cells affect local or systemic in-flammation,which has also become an important link in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome.Interleukin 38,as the newest member of the interleukin 1 family,shows anti-inflammatory functions in many inflammatory diseases.This article aims to summarize role of interleukin 38 in metabolic syndrome and latest research progress.
