Starting from government office automation and experiencing different stages of development of e-government,digital government,and digital governance,research in the field of public administration informatization has made rich achievements,providing strong support for the modernization of the national governance system,and thus spawning a related secondary discipline of public administration:digital public governance.Whether the connotation of the secondary discipline is clarified and the research scope is clear e-nough will directly affect the talent training,academic research,and practical application in relevant fields.This paper attempts to sort out the connotation and research scope of digital public governance,and propose that digital public governance be a secondary discipline of public administration based on the theory of public administration and social governance.It uses modern digital technology and systematic methods to analyze and solve public problems and promote the modernization of national governance system and governance ca-pacity.The research scope mainly includes three aspects:theoretical construction,practical application,and institutional guarantee of digital public governance.
