The widespread application of AI technology has provided local governments with more tools and methods to fulfill their responsibilities in public service supply and governance,which has accelerated the process of high-quality development of public services.In order to study the readiness of local govern-ments in developing and applying AI technology in the field of public service governance,this paper establi-shes an AI readiness assessment index system for local government public service governance,which will e-valuate from three dimensions of the government,technical department,and infrastructure.Results show that the overall readiness of China's provincial governments to apply AI technology in public service governance still needs to be improved.The differences in readiness among regions are significant.Enhancing the digital capabilities of the government,improving the overall competitiveness of AI technology departments,optimi-zing and improving infrastructure construction to achieve better exploration and utilization of AI technology will be one of the important tasks for local governments in the AI era.
