Influence of calcium carbonate whiskers on uniaxial compression characteristics of cement mortar
In order to understand the influence of calcium carbonate whiskers(CCW)on uniaxial compression characteristics of cement mortar, uniaxial compression tests were conducted on cement mortars with different amounts of CCW.The characteristics and influencing factors of the load displacement curve during the entire uniaxial compression process were studied. The deformation characteristics of mortar under uniaxial compression were studied using digital image correlation(DIC),and the cross-section mi-crostructure of the samples was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the compressive strength of mortar gradually increases when the dosage of CCW is 0~3%and decreases when the dosage of CCW is 5%.The strain field of mortar shows that adding an appropriate amount of CCW can delay local crack propagation, and the internal structure of mortar will shift from"bridging strengthening"to"aggregation weakening"due to the increase of whisker content. The research results can pro-vide some reference for the application of CCW in cement-based materials.
