Properties and application of lithium slag-based aluminasilicate artificial aggregates
Lepidolite lithium slag-based aluminasilicate artificial aggregates, with a cylinder compressive strength of up to 10 MPa and a stacking density of 1000 kg/m3,were prepared by artificial granulation and autoclaved method. The aggregate consists of lepidolite lithium slag(LS),Portlandite cement(PC),ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS)and steel slag(SS),in which LS ac-counted for 70%~80%.The study concentrates on hydration products of artificial aggregates and application technique in concrete. The results revealed that:with the same incorporation of LS,the substitution of cement by SS or GGBS can significantly enhance the cylinder compressive strength of the artificial aggregates. Moreover, the main hydration products in the PC-LS aggregates were i-dentified as tobermorite and katoite.Anhydrite was predominantly found in flakes or short columnar.While,SS-GGBS-LS aggregates exhibit lower Ca/Si ratio, with tobermorite being the main hydration product.Anhydrite appeared mostly in needle or rod-like forms.Furthermore, incorporating 80~120 kg/m3 of LS-based artificial aggregates in concrete had proven to enhance concrete construction properties and improve the long-term mechanical properties of the concrete.
