Study on performance of SMA13 modified by low-degree decrosslinking crumb rubber based on dry process method
The high-temperature performance,low-temperature performance, and water stability of dry process modified SMA13 with varying dosages of low-degree Decrosslinked Crumb Rubber(LDCR)were assessed through several indoor tests, including the rutting test, the low-temperature bending tests, the freeze-thaw splitting test and the immersion Marshall test. These tests compare the modified SMA 13 with a 4.5%SBS-modified SMA13(the reference group). The findings indicate that incorporation of LDCR markedly enhances the high-temperature properties of SMA13,particularly when the LDCR content is 2%or higher,at which point the dynamic stability value of the mixture surpasses that of the reference group. At low temperatures, the SMA13 modified with a 2%dosage of LDCR demonstrates superior crack resistance. In general, water stability of LDCR-modified SMA13 is below that of the reference group.Comprehensive considering,a 2%dosage of LDCR is recommended for optimal modification of SMA13,poten-tially reducing material costs by approximately 5%.
