Research on superhydrophobic coating concrete technology at expansion joints of prefabricated utility tunnel segments
Construction measures and material failures at expansion joints of utility tunnels often lead to concrete cracking and water leakage issues. The use of superhydrophobic concrete can effectively prevent water leakage at these expansion joints.By dripping a mixture of silicone and turpentine onto pre-cured concrete and using a rapeseed oil soot deposition method, the surface is transformed to possess superhydrophobic properties. The prepared silicone-soot composite material inhibits the absorption of water and corrosive ions, provides thermal insulation to the original concrete, and can resist mechanical abrasion, heavy rainfall, and dynam-ic impact from sulfuric acid droplets.Thereby enhancing the waterproofing capabilities of underground utility tunnels.
