Research on the influence of recycled aggregates on concrete properties and the current situation of strengthening techniques
The study summarizes the characteristics of recycled aggregates such as particle gradation, apparent density, crushing value, and water absorption, and analyzes the impact of recycled aggregates on the workability, mechanical properties, volume stability, and durability of concrete. The research indicates that recycled aggregates have defects such as lower apparent density, higher water absorption, and greater crushing value compared to natural aggregates. To address these defects, various strengthening technologies for recycled aggregates are discussed, including mechanical grinding, thermal treatment, acid treatment, microbial reinforcement, carbonation reinforcement, mineral admixture reinforcement, nanomaterial modification, and polymer impregnation, and their respective advantages and disadvantages are analyzed, with the aim of promoting the large-scale and high-value utilization of recycled aggregates.
