Life Fit:The Generative Logic of Governance Effectiveness in Rural Life:A Case Study on the Governance of Housing Transfers of Village H in Shanghai
Life governance is a new focus in the research on rural governance. It emphasizes that projects should achieve embeddedness in society, but the"society"is simplified as a homogeneous existence. The het-erogeneity and fluidity of daily life and individuals are ignored. This study proposes the perspective of life fit.Based on the case of housing transfer governance of rural revitalization project in Shanghai H village, this pa-per discusses the generative logic of life governance effectiveness from two aspects:the fit between immediate project services and life aspirations, and the fit between the diachronic project cycle and life cycle. The ten-sion between life and system is the endogenous root cause of the inconsistency of life fit, which leads to three outcomes:natural fit, adaptive fit and difficult to fit.Rural governance needs to obtain the"complete narra-tive"of the people's perception of the project. Then, the village-level organizations adjust the fit between life and project in formal and informal ways, and improve the life governance effectiveness.
