Improving digital infrastructure is of great significance for enhancing residents'utility levels and people's wellbeing.Using the China Household Finance Survey data and leveraging the"Broadband Chi-na"strategy as a quasi-natural experiment, this paper constructs a staggered difference-in-differences model to evaluate the impact of digital infrastructure on household consumption. The study finds that the advance-ment of digital infrastructure significantly increases household consumption, with various robustness tests sup-porting this conclusion.Mechanism tests show that digital infrastructure development enhances household con-sumption by promoting employment and increasing the availability of household credit.Heterogeneity analysis reveals that digital infrastructure development has a greater promoting effect on household consumption for fam-ilies with lower human capital,middle-aged and elderly families, and families in the central and western re-gions.Therefore,it is essential to continue advancing digital infrastructure construction, bridge the digital di-vide,enhance the inclusiveness of the digital economy, meet diverse household consumption needs, and cre-ate favorable conditions for expanding domestic demand and improving the quality of living for residents.
