Impact of Industrial Robot Adoption on Corporate Social Security Contributions and its Mechanism
Industrial robots,crucial for digital transformation in manufacturing industry,challenge the income distribution in labor market.Using Bartik instrumental variable and data from Chinese listed manufac-turing firms,it's found that robot adoption significantly reduced corporate social security expenses by reduc-ing non-monetary benefits to attract workers and workers'negotiating power.The negative effects were more pronounced for labor-intensive and finance-constrained corporates.Thus,in the deep integration of the real and digital economy context,guiding technology towards the development path of'human-robot coordina-tion',establishing a comprehensive labor skills training system,and utilizing SOEs'leadership will improve the social redistribution system and ensure workers'welfare.
