Effect of subjective social status on college students'depression:the role type of different social support and its gender differences
Objective To explore the role of types of social support(such as family support and support from friends)on the relationship between subjective social status and depression and its gender differences.Methods A one-year follow-up survey of 1 353 college students was conducted with subjective social status questionnaire,perceived social support scale,and depression scale.Results The moderation effect of friends and other support between socioeconomic status and depression was statistically significant(β=0.06,0.06,P<0.05),and the moderation effect were statistically significant in gender(β=0.09,0.10,P<0.05).The mediating effect of family support was only significantly shown in female college students(the value was-0.03,P<0.05).Conclusion Different types of social support play different roles in subjective social status and depression of college students.
